Kannada Rajyotsava Program:

During the first week of November 2019, Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with a variety of programs. There was a combination of skit, group songs, group dance performance, talks regarding Karnataka’s rich heritage, culture, food, art, languages, historical significance, including the geographical features of all the districts. The celebration extended upto a week, and gave a taste of the varieties and richness of this wonderful land.

November 6 : Annual Sports Day

The most-awaited day of enjoyment and thrill for the students, The Annual Sports Day, was held in the school ground from 31/10/2019 to 6/11/2019. The final inter-house competitions of all the events were held, which included Track and field events. The events were divided into the categories of Sub-Juniors, Juniors and Seniors. The Track events had 100 Mts Race, 400 Mts Relay race, Sack race, etc..The field events consisted of Musical Chair, Javelin throw, Shot-put etc..The Overall Toppers, in terms of points in various events, were the Red House group. The Blue house group who were the reigning champions for the last three years were toppled by the Red House team.

The students and teachers participated enthusiastically throughout the day on the final day which was very-well organized by the PE Dept.

November 14 : Children’s Day Celebrations

The birthday of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on November 14 is celebrated as Childrens’ Day in India. This year’s celebration in the school was marked by a talent show by teachers during the assembly time and an eventful sports activity in the afternoon. A humorous, entertaining short skit, depicting the close relationship between Teacher and student, was presented by the faculty members of the school, during the assembly. Some talented teachers also rendered soulful, melodious songs, exhibiting their musical talents. In the afternoon, a volleyball match was held between the Male staff and boys, while, a throw ball match was conducted between Lady teachers and girls. The volleyball match was won by the energetic boys but, the lady teachers stole the show by winning over the girls in the throw ball match. On the whole, the day was memorable for the children as well as teachers, who became kids for a day.

Rashtriya Hindi Week:

The National Hindi language week or Rashtriya Hindi week, was celebrated in the second week of November. The events included short talks by students of Gr 9 about the importance and relevance of the usage of the national language, short skit by the tiny tots of Gr 1, based on the theme ‘Bachpan’—Childhood, Group songs etc…These events were conducted as Assembly activity.

November 7, 2019: SPICMACAY Program

Hosting the SPICMACAY programs in SVK, The Smart School, is a matter of pride and honor. The various cultural events promoted by this prestigious organization, have been conducted in the school premises, since many years. As a part of this, on Nov 7, 2019, a unique event-a Drama, was staged in the new auditorium, Dashamanotsava Bhavana. The theme of the long play was related to the historical event of India-Pakistan partition, and its effects on the civilians of both the countries. The play was based on the work of Mulk Raj Anand, the prolific Hindi litterateur. The play was presented by troupe of artists from Naya Theatre.

November 25, 2019: Mock Parliamentary Session

The students of Grade 9 staged a Mock Parliamentary Session, as an inter-disciplinary group activity, on Nov 25, 2019. The session was held in the new Auditorium-Dashamanotsava Bhavana. The event was arranged meticulously and was a replica of the Indian Parliament. Students, with the guidance of their Social Science teachers, staged the session in a very organized manner. They donned the roles of various ministers with portfolios, like—Prime Minister, Home, Finance, Defence, Agriculture, Industry..so on, ministers, plus Opposition leader, Speaker etc. A typical parliamentary debate was conducted, taking some national issues in the current scenario as topics of discussion. There was a questioning session and debating session. All the students of Grade 9, with colourful, dignified attires, almost looked like leaders and future parliamentarians.

November 26, 2019: Indian Constitution Day:

The Indian Constitution Day is celebrated on Nov 25 every year, commemorating the creation and acceptance of the constitution of India. This day is celebrated to remember and pay homage to those great creators of the Indian Constitution, which acts as the guideline for running the country’s affairs and administration. This day also has the purpose of spreading the awareness of the contents of the Constitution to the common citizens of the country. To commemorate this eventful day, a rally was held in the school premises, by the students of Grades 7, 9. They carried placards, banners –to spread the message about the importance of the Indian Constitution and its relevance in common man’s life.
