Annual Day Celebration: 1st January, 2020

The New Year of 2020 opened in a grand style for The Smart School with the staging of the Annual Day as a different and unique event, on January 1, 2020 . The celebrations were scheduled for just one day, on Jan 1, encompassing two sessions—Morning [nursery] and evening [secondary] sessions.

Another special factor was, the whole event being held in Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Malleswaram.

The Chief guest for the morning session was Dr. S. R. Leela, Sanskrit Scholar and former Member of Legislative Council. The second session had, Smt. Vidya Murthy, Well-known Stage, Cine and TV Artist.

The tiny tots of the primary sections, including nursery, Gr 1 and Gr 2, gave a stunning performance in the morning session, starting from 10.30 am and ending at 12.30 pm. The event comprised of dance performances by the children with their colourful and glistening costumes. The session was a hit with the parents and the onlookers, due to the effective sound system and a sterling performance by the energetic children.

The second session began at 4.30 PM. The event was called ‘Panchamrutha’. This title was based on the themes depicted by the dancers. The first event under this was ‘Bhakti Yoga’, which included five dance items showcasing the Bhakti rasa. The second theme was ‘Pancha Bhoota’, viz..Earth, Sun, Water, Air and Fire. Dance items depicting these natural elements were presented very effectively. The third theme was Indian Classical Dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Kuchupudi, Mohiniyattam, Kathak and Natya-Yoga. The last item was a unique blend of Indian classical dance and Yoga.

Republic Day: 26th January, 2020

The Second National Festival of India, Republic Day, was held in the school on January 26, 2020. The National Flag was unfurled by the Chairman, Sri Shamsunder Sharma, in a colourful event, attended by the students of Gr 6 to 9, apart from the Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff.

The day was marked by the parade by NCC students and the band group headed by the NCC captain of the school. This was followed by a short address by the Chairman and the Principal.
