Kargil Diwas

Kargil Diwas was celebrated by our school on 26th July to commemorate the victory of India over Pakistan in Kargil war. A cultural program was presented by the students of class 9 in the assembly. Students of the Primary wing paid tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil war. Ascharya of Grade 5 helped her friends know about the significance of observing Kargil Vijay Diwas. The Junior School Choir group presented a group song in memory of the brave souls.

Family quiz at VITM

On the occasion of 57th anniversary celebration of the Museum, VITM had invited our school parents to participate in Family quiz on “Science and Technology”. A selection process was held for selecting one student and one parent.

Yellow Day

Yellow is the symbol of happiness, warmth and sunshine. The Friday atmosphere looked vibrant with the yellow ambience on the 8th July. The tiny tots of Grade 1 and 2 celebrated YELLOW DAY by dressing themselves in a yellow attire. Students observed and understood the importance of the colour yellow in their daily lives. Students spoke about the yellow things that they come across daily and their usage. Students exhibited their talents with many performing arts such as dance, song and role play.

Teachers’ Workshop

Teachers Workshop

Empowered teachers can empower students. With this intention, Our school organized a workshop for teachers of our school and the teachers of other CBSE schools in Bangalore under the aegis of Bangalore Sahodaya.
Training was held on 6th August 2022. Dr Arathi Rajaratnam , who is a leading psychologist and author of books on parents and child psychology. The resource person trained the teachers on the topic “ Ways to address the behavioral issues and learning difficulties of students at Preschool and Primary level”.

National Independence day

THE SMART SCHOOL celebrated 76th National Independence day on 15th August 2022, with great patriotic fervor. Our school chairman Sri Shamasundar Sharma and School Trustee Smt. Manjulamba , Ex-Principal Smt. Jayanthi Paniraj, School Principal Smt.Poornima SD were escorted by School NCC Cadet and Scouts & Guides Troop and hoisted the National Flag at 9:15 AM.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was the theme of this year’s independence day celebration as given by the Government of India to commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of our country.
A cultural program was presented by the students of Primary, middle and secondary school students. Parade, Patriotic songs, display, stories and speeches in different languages were the highlights of the progam.
To mark this day, students, teachers and parents participated in Har Ghar Tirang program by pinning the flags on the website and obtained certificates. School chairman published the story of his father Late Shri S.R Sharma who was a freedom fighter , in the Ministry of culture ,The Government of India website.

Students of VI to X designed beautiful posters based on the 5 themes given by the Government of India Achivements@75, Action @75, resolve@75,Ideas@75 and Freedom struggle, under the guidance of Social Science teachers and Arts department.
Swatantra Bharath ki Kahani – Stories of 75 Unsung Heroes & Freedom fighters -A Story telling activity was conducted for the students of Grades III to V and the best 3 stories were narrated on the occasion of Independence day.

School toppers felicitation on 15th August 2022

The Smart School congratulated and felicitated the well -deserved success of class X and XII toppers for their meritorious performance in Board examination 2021-2022. Toppers received rewards from the school chairman.

Our school Principal Smt Poornima has been appointed as a Master trainer by CBSE Centre of Excellence , Bengaluru for Karnataka Region. Smt Poornima SD attended a Master training program on the topic “ School Health and Wellness “ . This program was held in NCERT campus, New Delhi, for about 5 days from 16th August to 21st August 2022.

PTM

1st Parent Teacher Meet was held on 13th August for classes VI to XII and for primary classes, the 1st PTM was held on 20th August 2022. Parents play a vital role in providing quality education to the children.. Mere admitting a child to a reputed institution will not serve the purpose. In this context, Principal and class teachers discussed with the parents about barriers/ the challenges for the students’ learning and development and the expected role of parents in combating these barriers/challenges.

Carnatic Vocal music

Neuroscientists have reported that music is a stimulant for Brain’s growth. Sangita Kalanidhi Vidwan Neyveli Santhanagopalan & associates presented a Carnatic Vocal music concert for the students of our school on 25th August 2022 . This program was organized under the aegis of SPICMACAY .

Teachers’ Day

Teachers Day

An enrichment program was organized by the school management for teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Prof. M.S. Krupashankara, Registrar of RV University was invited as a guest speaker. He addressed the teachers on the topic “How to develop scientific temper and problem solving skills in students”. Students of Grades IX to XII presented an entertainment program on this occasion.

WORKSHOP

An in-house workshop was conducted for the teachers on 20th September 2022. The resource person of this workshop was our school Principal and she emphasized on the topic “School Health and wellness”. Several behavioral issues of students were addressed through case studies, games and activities.

Teachers as reflective practitioners – Reflective practice was introduced to our school teachers on 30th September 2022 and they put conscious efforts to introspect on their strengths, areas of improvement and their efforts in enhancing the process of learning in students for term 1 of the academic year 2022-2023.

Dasara festival

Dasara festival

Dasara festival was celebrated  from   26th September to 4th October 2022. Dolls and figurines of the school museum were  arranged  in the office lounge for the purpose of Bombe pooja. Lalitha sahasranama was chanted by students and teachers . On October 1, Ayudha Puja was celebrated in the school premises. The school transport department decorated the school buses and all the equipment used in the school and books were revered and ritualistic puja was performed. The doll show was open to the public up to 10th October  and the school reopened on the  same day  after Dasara vacation.

2nd PTM

2nd PTM was held for the classes I to V on 15th October  and for the classes VI to XII on 22nd October 2022.  Individual feedback was given to the parents about their wards’ performance and holistic development. Constructive measures were also suggested for the parents by the class teachers.

ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 28ರಂದು ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಇಲಾಖೆಯು, ವಿಶ್ವದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಏಕಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕವಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುವ ಕೋಟಿ ಕಂಠ ಗಾಯನ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಾಲೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗದವರು ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಗೀತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡಿದರು. ಅಂದು ಮಾಚೋಹಳ್ಳಿ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರು, ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

National Unity day

National Unity day was observed on 31st October 2022. to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. The occasion provided us an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country. To mark the occasion, the School NCC cadet,  Student council members and the students of classes VI to VIII participated in “ UNITY RUN“ after the morning assembly.  Our school took  the  “Integrity Pledge”on Central Vigilance Commission’s official  website and obtained a participation certificate.

ನವೆಂಬರ್ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಾದ್ಯಂತ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವಾರು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ 67ನೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಡಗರದಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಡಿನ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಲಾ ಪ್ರಕಾರಗಳ ವೈಭವವನ್ನು ಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಿಮಾ ಎಸ್. ಡಿ ರವರು ಧ್ವಜಾರೋಹಣ ಮಾಡುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು-ನುಡಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಭಿಮಾನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ 10ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಾದ ಅಮಿಶ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಲಿಖಿತ ರವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.  ಕನ್ನಡ ತಾಯಿಯ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯು ವಿಶ್ವದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಪಸರಿಸಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೀಡುವ ಕೆ ಎಸ್ ನಿಸಾರ್ ಅಹಮದ್ ರವರ ನಿತ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ ಹಾಡಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಾದೇಶ್ವರನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುವ ಕಂಸಾಳೆ ಜಾನಪದ ಗೀತೆಗೆ 7ನೇ ಹಾಗೂ 8ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ನೃತ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

 ಎಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಇರು, ಎಂತಾದರು ಇರು, ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ನೀ ಕನ್ನಡವಾಗಿರು ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಾರುವ, ಕುವೆಂಪು ರವರು ರಚಿಸಿರುವ ‘ಬಾರಿಸು ಕನ್ನಡ ಡಿಂಡಿಮವ’ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಏಳನೇ ಹಾಗೂ ಎಂಟನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

 ಇಡೀ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಾದ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಿಕ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಛದ್ಮ ವೇಷ, ನೃತ್ಯ, ನಾಟಕ, ಹಾಡು, ಏಕಪಾತ್ರಾಭಿನಯ ಹೀಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು-ನುಡಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಭಿಮಾನವನ್ನು ಮೆರೆದರು.

Veeragatha Project 2.0

In the first 2 weeks of November, the students of Grades 3 to 12 participated in various Interdisciplinary and art-integrated activities like poem, essay, story, paragraph, painting, drawing and  videos.  This was organized by the school as recommended by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) . Selected projects were uploaded on the CBSE Veer Gatha portal .

 The Cultural Club had organised a programme based on the theme

“Significance and relevance of ‘Sanskrit’ as a language” on 5th November, 2022.

Programmes were:

  • Chanting of Shlokas with the meanings
  • Dance on senses and sensibilities
  • Introduction to Sanskrit words – origin, pronunciation and mening to develop

Children’s Day

Children’s day was celebrated on 14th November  in the school premises,  to commemorate the birth anniversary of Jawaharalal Nehru,the first prime minister of India.  Teachers  presented a wonderful cultural program which was not only entertaining, but also educational.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY on 19th Nov 2022

It was a month’s program for conducting sports events for the students of Preschool to Grades 12. However, finals for some  sports events  such as Athletics, Relay, Kabaddi, Badminton, etc., were conducted  on this day.  Winners secured medals and certificates.

Nutritious week 17th October – 21st October 2022

Healthy eating is very important for proper growth and development and to prevent various health conditions. The awareness and importance of nutritious food was created in children by conducting an activity called nutrition week where in the time table was set for the whole week on what dishes to be brought to the school. All the children relished the nutritious food as per the time table. The teachers of kindergarten prepared various recipes in front of children and highlighted the importance of nutrition.

Deepavali 21st October 2022

Deepavali is the festival of light and is one of the favorite festivals amongst the little ones. Children painted and decorated the diyas and took them back home for lighting and brightening their homes. The importance of Deepavali and the purpose behind the celebration was very well explained through stories and visuals by the teacher.

Dasara 30th September 2022

Dasara is the festival which celebrates the victory of good over evil. Our nursery kids celebrated the same by dancing to the tune of music playing Kolata Or Dhandiya. The significance of dasara was told in the form of a story to the kids.

Rhyme time 12th October 2022

Rhymes are often pleasant to hear and sound like music when children recite them. The tiny tots of Smart School were more than excited to recite their favorite rhymes as they were dressed up as a particular character from the rhyme.

Krishna Janmashtami 19th August

Lord Shri Krishna who gave us the vital message of Bhagavad Gita – the guiding principle of every human being. His birthday was celebrated with high energy by the kids of preschool, depicting them as little Krishnas and Radhas by chanting shlokas, singing songs and dancing.

Independence day

The tiny tots of kindergarten presented a show and were dressed as freedom fighters at the event of Independence Day celebration.

Ocean alive 27th july

“Let the waves carry you where light cannot”.Students of preschool came together as ocean animals and aquatic plants to make us realize the major role of the ocean in our lives.

Design and Innovation

Design and innovation is one of the best tools to prepare kids to face unseen situations with confidence, optimism and creativity .This framework of design can create future creators, innovators and problem solvers. Our Smart kids created new designs by using geometrical basic shapes and participated enthusiastically and the teacher rewarded them with takeaway gifts.

Environmental Day

Kindergarten is a stage of fundamental and foundation learning and it begins with nature. World environment day  was celebrated on with the kids by creating awareness about nature, teaching the concepts of saving nature, growing more plants. Students were taken for  a nature walk and sowing the seeds activity was done. Rhymes and stories were recited. Students were taken to the AV room to inculcate them more about how to protect nature.

Reopening Day

“Kindergarten children are confident in spirit, infinite in resources, and eager to learn. Everything is still possible”.

It was a pleasant Wednesday morning.The excited teachers of Nursery wing were welcoming the blooming buds to the garden of Sri Vidya Kendra, greeting and showing their love by giving welcome gifts.

Teachers and tiny tots were immersed in the joy of getting to know each other. Kids started getting accustomed to their second home.

CBSE COE Bengaluru Capacity Building Programme on class X -Hindi was hosted by our school on 10th and 11th December 2022. Resource persons of this program were Smt Shikha Mathur and Dr Sanju Mishra. They trained the teachers on Bloom’s taxonomy, lesson plan and setting question papers. Teachers from various schools attended this program.  All the teachers obtained participation certificates after completing teacher assessment.

Yakshagaana

Yakshagana is one of the most popular traditional art forms of coastal belt of karnataka. On 13th December, Sri Keremane Shivananda Hegde and his associates presented  an amazing  yakshagana performance  under the aegis of SPICMACAY. The  story of Seethaapaharna prasanga in Ramayana was depicted in the show.

Club activities

NAMMA SAMSKRITI by Cultural club  –  Students discussed about the significance of Indian tradition and culture in Hindu festivals such as Ganesh chaturthi, Bihu, Nagarpanchami etc.,

GeethaJayanthi  celebration by Linguistic club – Students performed a role play for Krishnarjunasamvada. Students and teachers chanted Bhagavadgeetha .

Kalanjali by Cultural club  – Students performed dances and songs for the  Indian and western classicals and they also  – demonstrated the recipes and craft works.

BharatiyaKalasangam by Heritage club – Students demonstrated folk forms of different states of India through folk songs.

Empowered teachers can empower students. With this intention, our school hosted a capacity-building program for THE SMART SCHOOL Teachers on 15th and 16th May 2023. This was organised by CBSE Centre for Excellence, Bangalore .

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

An Orientation Program was conducted for the parents of New joiners on 20th May 2023. The chairman Shri L.S Shamasundara Sharma addressed the parents and the Principal Smt. Poornima SD briefed about the process of schooling and the innovations brought for the current academic year.

NO TOBACCO DAY

31st May World No tobacco day: To highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use, WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY was observed on 31st May as designated by the World Health Organization. The students conducted a mock interview and they beautifully showcased how adolescents get attracted towards tobacco products. An informative talk was given on the effects of tobacco on nervous system and its detrimental effects students’ life.

World Environment Day

World Environment Day

5th June world Environment Day : The world environment day was observed with week long assembly activities from 05 June to 09 June 2023, with the theme “Beat plastic pollution”. The assembly began with a song on nature and it was followed by a dance performance, a skit to depict the harmful effects of plastics on animals and the responsibilities of humans to make the world a better place to live for all species. The students also displayed various organic materials that can replace plastic in our day to day activities. The students showcased their art work throughout the week and also conducted a quiz. The various activities organised, stimulated the awareness about the environment and aimed at enhancing attention and action towards safeguarding it.

MOTIVATIONAL TALK BY SMT. NEMICHANDRA

7th June – A motivational talk  was given on emotional resilience and  digital wellness by Smt Nemichandra  for the students of Grades VII to XII. The resource person also conducted a training session  for the teachers of our school  and also for the teachers of  our hub member schools.

STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTION

Student council election was held on 19th June 2023 through E- Ballet Student council is an opportunity for students to hone their leadership skills. The school had fixed various criteria for filing nomination by contestants. Student contestants presented their election manifesto in the school assembly and did campaigning. Students of Grades VI to XII were allowed to cast their votes.

9th International Yoga day

9th International Yoga day was celebrated by THE SMART SCHOOL on 21st June 2023. The main objective of this yoga day celebration was to create awareness about the importance of yoga practice and its holistic approach to physical and mental well-being of mankind. The students of Grades VII to X performed different asanas under the guidance of school yoga instructor Shri Ananda K and Smt Kani Mohzhi . The benefits of performing Yoga was narrated by students during the demonstration. 

World music day

On the occasion of World music day, the students of our school presented a music concert . Bharateeya Saamagaana Sabha Trustee presented music magazines to the students of our school who are interested in music.

Millets’ week

Millets’ week was celebrated from 26th June to 30th June 2023. During this week, Students demonstrated their creativity in various events such as fancy dress, role play, poster making, Millets Mela, Millets meals, Gallery walk, assembly activity, quiz and several cultural programs and they could realize the essence of Millets.

Investiture Ceremony

Investiture Ceremony

Investiture ceremony was held on 3rd July 2023. The School NCC cadet escorted the School Management and the principal to the assembly ground by slow march. The ceremony began with an invocation song followed by welcome address. The Chairman, Trustee, administrator Principal and coordinators adorned the student council members with badges and sashes and the Principal administered the oath to the student council members.

LAYA LAAVANYA BY RENOWNED ARTIST

On 14th July 2023, Grand Percussion Ensemble was organized in the school auditorium. This ensemble was directed by Vid. Anooru Ananthakrishna Sharma, President of Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy. Various instruments such as Mridangam, Khanjira, Morsing, Tabla, Thavil and Jazz Drums were played along with the instruments of different genres by 12 artists. Different styles of rhythms such as Carnatic, Hindusthani and western are presented in unison, which was brilliantly directed.

CHANDRAYAAN -3

Chandrayaan-3’s triumphant journey has transcended the boundaries of science and technology. It has become an inspiration for millions of young Indians, igniting a spark of curiosity and fascination in the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).  Special screening was organized in school auditorium to watch the live streaming of Chandrayaan 3 launching.

FLUTE CONCERT

Vid. Shashank Subramanyam, accompanied by Vid. H.N Bhaskar- Violin and Vid. Patri Satish Kumar – Mridangam, presented a Carnatic flute concert for the students of our school on 17th July 2023, This program was organized under the aegis of SPICMACAY.

On 22nd July 2023, as requested by Bangalore Sahodaya Office, the principal of our school, Smt. Poornima S.D conducted a training on “ Teaching class X Science “ for the science teachers of all the CBSE schools in Bengaluru.

IIMB visit– It was a proud moment when our school was selected by CBSE skill education , New Delhi, to collaborate with Indian Institute of Management , Bengaluru. Our School Principal Smt. Poornima S.D was one amongst 15 principals in Karnataka to interact with IIM professors.
